Stabilized Telephoto Zoom Lens is honored with second international award in 2011

Ronkonkoma, NY, August 23, 2011 – Sigma Corporation of America (www.sigmaphoto.com) is pleased to announce that its 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM lenshas been chosen for yet another award this year. The company’s telephoto zoom lens has just been named the “European Lens for 2011-2012” by theEuropean Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) Photo Awards.

EISA honored Sigma’s large aperture, telephoto zoom lens for its outstanding image quality, light weight and ease of operation. The lens features two FLD glass elements, super multi-layer lens coating, and it is extremely compact, measuring only 7.8 inches in length. The lens is sold by authorized Sigma dealers for a MSRP of $2,470.00.

According to EISA, “Sigma has produced a telephoto zoom lens that offers professional features and exceptionally good image quality at a very reasonable price … this lens is a perfect choice for both demanding amateurs and professional photographers.”

EISA is comprised of 50 special interest magazines from 19 European countries and it started in 1982 when the editors from five European photo magazines came together to select “The Camera of the Year.” Since then, EISA member magazine editors have broadened the scope of the annual awards and they convene each year to decide which products are worthy of EISA Awards.

“The 70-200MM F/2.8-4 DC MACRO OS HSM lens is very versatile, and is popular among photographers of all skill levels,” said Mark Amir-Hamzeh, president of Sigma Corporation of America. “The 70-200mm focal range is often the second most important lens to own after a strong standard lens or mid-range zoom and the large aperture and compact design make this even more desirable. We’re proud to have this award-winning lens available in our lineup.”

In April of this year, Sigma’s 70-200mm also won the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) “Best Expert Lens” award for its Optic Stabilization (OS) system, and its HSM function that provides smooth and silent auto focusing. The recognition the lens is receiving from the photo community underscores Sigma Corporation’s commitment to providing exceptional products that produce outstanding image quality for a variety of photography types and levels.

The70-200mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSMlens is currently available in Sigma, Canon, Nikon, Sony and Pentax mounts for $2,470.00 MSRP in stores nationwide.
